Thoughts on Trust

Looking back at my career journey over the years I can certainly admit that trusting the process was and often is a challenge. Work needed to be done. Skills needed to be mastered, clients needed to be found. I had to feed myself for heaven’s sake! I would mistake these periods of intensity as being opposite from flow states. A more helpful perspective I’ve learned to adopt is that moments of intensity and moments of flow or trust are not separate from each other. They can co-exist at the same time.

Meaning that even if you are in a period of tremendous effort, that does not necessarily mean you are not in flow and not trusting the path ahead of you. Some seasons require an insane amount of effort, endurance, focus, imbalance, sleepless nights, conflict and stress.

And while we never know how long these seasons will last, can we ground ourselves in trust that ease, rest and harmony may be on the horizon at some point?
