A Gentle Nudge In The Right Direction
We all have those friends we can confide in, whom we can tell our biggest dreams to. Or even our smallest but hopeful ambitions to. I have always appreciated these friends as a sounding board and essentially extra eyes and ears to be out there in the world looking out for the opportunities I’m trying to manifest. This is why I highly advocate for sharing your ideas, goals and ambitions with a few others. Even if they feel foolish to admit or totally out of reach- there is great power in getting these hopes and dreams out in the big wide world.
If you’ve been following me for a while, you may have heard me sprinkle in the desire to get back into the seat of the teacher. (Not yoga or meditation teacher), but a mentorship sort of style that allows me to support others on an otherwise confusing and tumultuous journey of growing a creative career. This blog and my Substack fill that need to some degree- but naturally, I feel drawn to give more.
Bring in that friend that we can tell our biggest dreams to. Luckily I have many of these friends. THANK GOODNESS. And so quite recently, last week in fact, a dear friend called me up to say, “Hey, here’s this awesome opportunity for you that helps you step into a mentorship space, would you like to do it?”. Without checking my schedule, considering childcare, or even if I had other meetings scheduled, I said “YES”. It was as if the “yes” literally jumped out of my heart.
Without getting into specifics, the opportunity I said yes to was so warm, inspiring and a gentle step into the mentorship world. Is this what manifesting without forcing feels like?
How could I have planned such a great entrance into the mentorship world myself? The evening was literally splendid. I shared my voice, I listened to others and heard their deepest needs. I empathized with their journey and offered whatever helpful counsel I could to whoever needed it. I felt confident, sometimes awkward but carefree and prepared. I am so thankful for my friend to give me the gentle nudge and open door to walk through.
So what does this mean from here? Well, first of all, I am still glowing from the joy of a first step taken on a path I have longed for. I plan to celebrate a bit at first and then think about what next steps can I take to make mentorship an official service alongside the services I already provide. There is much to plan as you can imagine! But I am, at the very least, so thankful I have taken the first step and am looking forward to what this can grow into.
