The Career Bridge I’m Crossing Myself

I believe career reinventions and transformations can be a journey of self knowledge. We have an opportunity each day we sign in for work to confront our talents, our challenges, our hopes and fears and most often, what we’d rather be doing. While I love encountering those lucky folks who absolutely love their professions I think a lot more people work in the liminal space between deadlines and daydreams.

And while I focus on being fully present to all my tech work each day, I often find myself hanging out way too long in that liminal playground. I know myself well enough to know that this usually means I am on the cusp of another career change. The bonus is after all the career changes I’ve navigated, I learned a career change does not mean abandoning the job titles, roles and careers I’ve had in the past. Wisdom and self-awareness is at the helm of this next move.

As you may have read in past blog posts, I have a background in teaching. This has led me to quickly take on leadership roles as I navigated my career in the tech industry, one that is the most natural for me to do and the most fulfilling. While I have loved every minute of leading design and development teams, my heart calls me to something deeper- teaching and mentoring as my main career. This is the bridge I am crossing for myself and unsurprisingly I have already started.

Since I got very clear about this new direction, mentoring students have come in. The first week it was one, the second week is was 3 and this week it is 4. It is a step in the right direction that I am grateful and prepared for.

So what do I teach? At present, I am focusing on career mentorship from a practical and spiritual perspective. One cannot exist without the other if we really aim to find fulfilling and joyous work. For those who want to go even deeper into tapping into their own spirituality and building a relationship with the divine, then I work with them solely as a Spiritual Advisor. This is not the first time I’ve had this role and I know it well. So for now I continue to grow my practice as a teacher, mentor and spiritual advisor while tending to my clients in the tech world. All the while with a clear vision to work solely as a teacher as I feel strongly, after all the roles I’ve had over the years, that this is my work in the world.

Thank you for following me here!
