It has been a wild month.
As a backstory, I started as a freelance Project Manager and Content Strategist for the design agency-Future Holidays in June. The shift to agency work has been a curious journey.
The biggest challenge has been having to rapidly adapt and learn different processes, programs and overall project management much different to my own. This can be learned and so the challenge was mainly the timeline of such vast amounts of learning. But what is the same from my freelance biz to now this position for an agency is the drive to do good work and hustle when needed to.
I always feel like the first 6 months on a new job is always 110% hustle.
It’s not the time for looking to be comfortable. Quite the opposite! It is the time to feel the most uncomfortable, challenged, stretched, and likely tired and overworked. I think this is important because when you are new, you have to learn, you have to develop trust as a new team member and essentially bring all of you to the table.
Of course that is the timeline I give myself to push against and it may be different for others. But as a foundation, I don’t expect to feel comfortable or good about anything until after this initial “on-boarding phase”.
But to speak to my freelance work, I’ve managed to wrap up the projects that had been in process until now and will decide on how to move forward with my retainer clients as I gauge the development of my role at Future Holidays. Not everything needs to be decided today.
Speaking of steady the pace, it’s time I sign off and enjoy the rest of my weekend. But boy does it feel good to blog today.
More to come!
