You guys this article is SO GOOD.
It speaks to Instagram trends being more unfiltered and messy rather than perfectly styled and essentially untrue and boring. Trust me, I love a good filter on my posts, I tend to use Lightbox but still, it can be annoying to lug my DSLR camera around to get perfectly staged photos for social media. And to be honest, it’s a little silly. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
While I can see how it is important for certain brands to have impeccable photography, for the day to day user it just doesn’t seem necessary anymore, and thank goodness. Here are my favorite lines from the article that really struck me (in a good way)….
“Fast-rising young influencers such as Emma Chamberlain, Jazzy Anne, and Joanna Ceddia all reject the notion of a curated feed in favor of a messier and more unfiltered vibe.”
“In fact, many teens are going out of their way to make their photos look worse. “
““I’m not afraid to over-post. I don’t think, Oh, will this mess up how my feed looks,” she says. “I don’t think too much about it. If I like an image, I just post it.”
