Deliberately Editing

It’s important to give yourself time to decide if certain things are still relevant in your current way of life. Over the last 6 months I have made a decision that reflect my determination to deliberately edit-out the things that just don’t work for me anymore.

Spoiler alert- I’m much happier for it.

Deliberate life edit #1- Quitting my martial arts practice that so profoundly shaped my early adulthood and helped me become the adult I am today. I was a devoted practitioner since my early 20’s and at one point of my life, left college in order to focus solely on my martial arts training. Yet over the past 3 years, no matter how hard I tried to continue my practice, it just would.not.work. I tried everything- hired extra child care for my daughter, adjusted my training schedule, and even pursued other training options. Yet over and over I was met with the realization that it was time to let this sport go- and for good. And I am much happier having finally owned up to it.

Looking back I often think, “I should have done this sooner!”, as I have been able to explore many other fitness options that actually fit my current way of life.

Anyways, I’m sure deliberate life-editing will be practiced well into this new year and I am looking forward to it!
